Lessons

Lessons are $35.00 for a private half hour. Preparing the horse (grooming, tacking up) is taught before the half hour ride begins. We feel that a private, one on one session provides a safe environment with better communication between student and trainer. Certain group lessons are an option at the trainer's discretion. We offer lessons to those with no experience through advanced at any age.

About Us

Canalside Stables was established in the year 2000. Our operation is located on 50 acres in a country-like setting in Macedon, NY. The property boasts extra large, grass pastures which keep our horses happy. Both the indoor and outdoor rings offer more than enough space for excellent learning for horse and rider. Our staff is very knowledgeable and cares for every horse as if it is their own. Canalside Stables is a member of the Empire State Riding Academy Series and the Northwestern New York Summer Series Horse Shows. We host annually an E.S.R.A.S. lesson show and a N.W.N.Y.show which is open to the public for both participating and spectating. Our students also attend many United States Equestrian Federation and Syracuse P.H.A. rated horse shows throughout the year. Though many of our riders show competitively, we welcome casual riders and horse lovers of all ages and levels. We invite you to join our large family of horse enthusiasts at our cozy, countrylike home.

Boarding

Board costs is $465.00/month (includes tax). Horses are turned out daily, stalls cleaned with sawdust, and fed and watered twice daily. Blanket changes are no additional costs.

SERVICES

Training

Lessons for the beginners to Advance Hunter/Jumper are available. We offer full training board and ship-in training. Please inquire for a quote.

TRAINERS:

Sue Mauro - Sue graduated from Merdith Manor with a degree in the equestrian field. She has been teaching riding lessons for 26 years with great sucess. She has taken students and horses from beginner level to A rated showing. Her students have qualified and shown at Indoors (Harrisburg, PA), Pony Finals, and Zone 2 Hunter Finals. Her students have won many division championships in the Syracuse Chapter PHA as well as national awards. She is co-owner of Canalside Stables with Debbie Derleth. In addition, Sue owns The Barn Door tack shop and is an officer in the Syracuse Chapter of PHA.

Deb Derleth - Debbie has been professionally riding for 17 years and teaching lessons for 15. She has won many division championships in the Syracuse PHA circuit. She has also qualified and participated in Indoors at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show. Debbie has had students qualify and participate in Pony Finals, Zone 2 Hunter Finals, and Junior Hunter Finals. She has taken horses form breaking all the way to the Second Year Green Hunters. Debbie is a co-owner of Canalside Stables with Sue Mauro.

Summer Camp

2011 Canalside Stables Riding Camp

Riding camp is a great place to learn horse management, how to ride and to enjoy the outdoors. Students ages 5 and up are welcome.

Camp weeks

July 11-15 and August 8-12

9:00am-2:00pm

$250 per rider per week

Riders need to bring riding boots (sneakers), helmet, jeans, shorts and a bagged lunch.

Please fill out the registration form and return it with a check to Canalside Equestrian.
